Can I teach myself a language?

If you used to speak the language it can come back. You can teach yourself to a point, but eventually you will need someone to speak with who can correct your pronunciation. I had a friend who decided to teach himself Mandarin Chinese. He learned to read and write very well, but he had to get lessons to learn to speak.
